ARK: Survival Evolved is a sandbox survival simulator set in an open world, pitting the players against dinosaurs and other players. The gameplay mechanics are modelled after the iconic MMO sandbox games such as DayZ, the major difference being that the role of the ever-present zombies was taken over by prehistoric reptiles.

Our character finds himself, defenceless and naked, on an uncharted island, and our task is to survive for as long as possible in the hostile environment. In order to remain alive we must hunt and gather raw materials, which can be used to craft weapons and various tools necessary for our existence.

We can develop our character by learning new skills that will prove very useful for our survival. Some of them even allow us to tame dinosaurs, and thus make them our personal mounts.

As in most productions of this type, we have a safe haven in the form of a self-made hideout, which provides us with shelter from more dangerous dinosaurs — more than 70 species of these creatures appear in the game, from small flying pterosaurs to real giants, like Diplodocus, Brontosaurus, or the T-rex.

The game focuses on online fun, and as per rules of the genre, allows to set up alliances and cooperate with other peaceful players. Minimum: Dual Core 2. Beacon IDs. Welcome to our guide to Ark Beacons.Welcome to Ark! You wake up on a strange island with nothing but your underwear and an implant in your arm. Wild dinosaurs roam freely and you must learn to live and survive among them. First thing you need to do is craft some tools. The first tool you need is a stone pick. This will allow you to easily get more thatch from trees and break rocks up for flint. Since you have nothing but your fists at the moment you will need to find the nearest tree and go all Mike Tyson on it.

Yes, you need to punch Left click by default the tree, but not too much because punching things hurts your health. Just punch enough trees to get 10 thatch and 1 wood. Next, you need 1 stone which you can find laying on the ground.

ark guide

Easiest way to do this is to spam the action button E by default while walking around. Once you get all that access your inventory I by default and select the craftables tab or V by defaultclick on the stone pick that should be lit up and hit craft. By now you should have leveled up for the first time which will give you some Engram Points EP to unlock more blueprints.

The very next thing you'll want is the stone hatchet which is good for getting more wood from trees and stones from rocks. You also have an ability point that you can put towards any of your attributes. This is where you unlock all the blueprints to craft things in the game.

As mentioned before, the first blueprint you want to unlock should be the stone hatchet. You should have enough points to unlock another one which should be either the campfire so you can cook meat or the spear so you can defend yourself. Once you are done with using your EP it's time to gather the rest of the materials needed to make the stone hatchet and a torch, both of which require flint which can be mined with the pick from huge boulders.

At this point, if you haven't gotten any food you'll want to start stocking up as you might be getting hungry. Easiest way to do this in the beginning is to forage for berries.

Walk up to some bushes and with either your bare hands or the torch hit the interact button. Bushes will give you some berries to eat along with fiber to craft more items later. Be careful about eating too many Narcoberries as they will put you to sleep.

Likewise, Stimberries will lower your torpidity stat that puts you to sleep, you want it at 0 but make you thirsty. Eating berries will help you out in a pinch but the real nutrition comes from cooked meat which fills your Hunger bar faster. Hopefully by now you have leveled up again and unlocked both the campfire and the spear. Each spear will cost you 8 wood, 2 flint, and 12 fiber along with a good chunk of your weight capacity.

At most you should have spears at any given time in case they break. It's a cutthroat game that has a steep learning curve for new players.

Dodos are the obvious target. Take advantage of this. When you get a few basic tools together, you can then move onto bigger prey like Parasaurs. This is so that other players will have a hard time finding your base, from all angles. One goal you should be constantly working towards is upgrading your base.

Base defence is a vital aspect of Ark: Survival Evolved, particularly on online servers. Whenever you can, make sure to learn any engrams that allow you to craft stronger walls or better defences. These creations can prevent offline raiding and help you hold on to your gear for just a little while longer. There are other things you can do to secure your base. These include building multiple rooms to prevent enemies from gaining access to everything in one go, setting traps to kill or maim trespassers, or making choke points so you can fend off intruders and not get overwhelmed by multiple targets.

The goal is to make raiding as awkward as possible for other players. This might mean making the upper floors difficult to access by hiding the ladder or putting spikes around your base to stop them from attacking from multiple angles.

Leave your storage box open. Joining a tribe is the simplest way to get ahead in the game. Better yet, start your own tribe and try to recruit whoever you come across. Just make sure that the person you end up playing with has the same kind of goals.

Otherwise, it can get pretty messy when you have to kick them for bad behaviour like hoarding equipment or excessive raiding. Taming animals is another way to speed up progression in the game.

Different animals are better suited to specific goals. For instance, Trikes are skilled at harvesting thatch, wood, and berries, and offer a fantastic mode of transport, whereas Ankylosaurus are experts at mining and can carry a lot of gear.

To tame animals all you need is a means of knocking them out and some raw meat or mejoberries to feed them with. Just pick a safe spot and get to work.

The easiest way to do this is to find explorer notes. These are collectibles, hidden inside of chests and stashed near stone ruins. Keep a lookout for them. Planting beds is the best way to do this. It allows you to fast travel across long distances, and respawn wherever you need to be. The lowest cost bed that you can make is a hide sleeping bag, which can only be used once to respawn.

Simple beds, on the other hand, can be used multiple times, but need to be placed on a foundation. Use a mixture to help you get around. Just try to keep them hidden, as otherwise players may try to destroy them, leaving you stranded. This brings up additional text, describing your current status, as well as any afflictions you may have picked up on your travels.

It will also give you the current in-game time in the top left corner of the screen, which is useful for plotting how to spend your hours. Do you have any more tips for surviving? Getting metal tools should be a very high priority as they will allow you to gather resources much faster. Once you have hit level 20, learn the Refining Forge and the Smithy.

These both require a lot of engrams, so it's advisable not to spend many engrams on level 18 and On high peaks such as the VolcanoHerbivore Islandand a large hill in the southern islets, you can find black rocks streaked with gold and shiny gold rocks that will yield large Metal quantities. Be sure to use a Metal Pick to harvest them. If none of these can be found, simple river rocks will get you started but yield a much lower rate than those previously listed.

Once you have metal, use your Refining Forge to smelt metal. Once you have five Metal Ingot you can craft a Smithy. A Metal Pick will allow you to get much more Metal out of rocks and therefore grant you access to metal tools. Once you have an Ankylosaurus you can gather metal much faster.

After a dino is knocked unconscious in the taming process, each dino has it's preferred food; most of them prefer their kind of Kibble over any other food, carnivores prefer Raw Prime Meatand herbivores prefer Mejoberries. Some creatures have special preferences, e. Pulmonoscorpius and Araneo like spoiled meat.

To tame most creatures you have to knock them out first. If you can craft them, it's highly recommended to use Bolas to hold it in place while you shoot it with a Slingshot or Tranquilizer Arrows. Taming creatures can take a long amount of time up to several hoursmake sure to minimize the amount of damage you do to the dinos when knocking them unconscious.

Ideally, knock them out in as few headshots as possible by using a slingshot, or more advanced methods like Tranquilizer Arrows or even Tranquilizer Darts. Doing damage to a dino during taming will reduce your taming effectiveness, decreasing the dinosaurs basic stats. This has nothing to do with the duration of your tame.
